Movie based on Craigslist - next Blair Witch Project?

Some very interesting stuff going on here. Zealot Pictures, a company “run by independent filmmakers looking for new ways to achieve distribution for projects that cut against the grain and dare to be different”, is all set to make a movie out of a day’s postings on craigslist. For those of you not in the know, craigslist is a grassroots city-centric classified originally started in San Fransisco by Craig Newmark. It’s now grown to be the Google of classified listings and covers every prominent city in the US. Everyday, thousands of people post such diverse things as cars for sale, soulmates-wanted and appeals to anonymous strangers to stop by at a bar. In many ways, craigslist is a microcosm of the people-internet, the part of it that we relate to as people, and as a society. If you’ve never tried it, go there now. You will get the same feeling you got when you first discovered Google. Almost like first love, eh?

Zealot Pictures is planning to take all the posts to the San Fransisco edition of craigslist, and follow up on a number of them, collect those stories and make a documentary movie out of it. Something tells me that this is going to be the next Blair Witch Project.
