Once in a while, you come across news that requires you to rethink your world view. I found this article today which throws disturbing light on criminal behavior. A man arrested for sundry sexual offences including pedophilia turns out to have been the victim of a brain tumor which affected his judgement. When his tumor was removed, his sexual obsession disappeared, reappearing again when the tumour relapsed. The neurologist who treated him believes that this is the first known case to link damage to the frontal lobe with pedophilia. More proof that life is complex and that justice is a compromise between the possibility of being wrong and the cost of being thorough.
