SMS on landlines, but with added stupidity

BSNL’s planning to come out with SMS on landline phones(Found thru Kiruba). The dissappointing part is, you’ll need a new telephone to be able to receive it.
Whatever happened to text-to-speech conversion ? Why a new instrument when I should be able to pick up the receiver and be able to listen to the darn thing? Why not email to landline while we are at it? Come on now, think BSNL, and there’s a trillion ways of adding value to the simple landline without needing a new instrument. Maybe one of the private players is listening. Maybe not.. I couldn’t find a contact address on their website. Aaaargh! Why does everybody want to talk but not listen ?! More importantly, why doesn’t anyone around here THINK ?
